The monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus)
I was very fortunate this summer to photograph the monarch several times in my backyard (this photo) and in the Fletcher Wildlife Garden in Ottawa, a heaven for butterflies and birds. There is also a little ant near the bottom of this pic, by accident, did not plan for it. Echinacea, as always, an interesting flower, looks spectacular in nature and in photos.
