Sunrise at Little Stony Point in Cold Spring, NY
As I left the house, I noticed some low-lying fog in the Southern Dutchess area. I began to second-guess my original plan to head south for sunrise but decided to stick it out and see what nature had to offer. Unfortunately, as the weather app indicated, there was little fog if any down in the Cold Spring area. I pressed on and began setting up my composition, starting with the obvious north facing view. My initial thought was to wait for the light to catch Storm King mountain. There was a considerable amount of wind blowing in a southward direction, forcing me to increase my shutter speed to prevent motion blur in the trees. As the sun began to rise and heat up the landscape, fog from the north lifted and moved south ominously rolling over Breakneck. I quickly turned to the right and recomposed this scene using light as the driving force to lead the viewer.
