Hard to put into words the emotions that stir in me as I look at this photo. A half hearted hug by the dad, wile staring at the door bubbles up the pain water in the my eyes. As I to have half assed my sons a time or two. The childs concerned, scared, and love filled hug squeezing tight not knowing if he will see his father alive again. Unfortunately was a familiar emotion that was stirred up in me.

I don't think that this man is half hearted. I think he is broken and is reaching out with what little he has left. This is heartbreaking work. Raw and very sensitively and lovingly rendered. You are a strong man Nicky Hamilton
