Hoodoos in Alberta's badlands. The badlands are sandstone canyons and river valley's carved out of the prairies by thousands of years of rain. The harder layers of stone create caps that slow down the erosion of softer layers of sandstone. This area is well know for dinosaur bone discoveries as mother nature slowly unearth's them. The badlands got their name from settlers who had trouble crossing these valleys in wagons.
