Location
This photo was taken in the suburb of Groningen, The Netherlands.Time
I took this photograph during the beginning of the evening, and used a 10-stop ND filter to get smooth water and a clear reflection of the colorful houses in the water.Lighting
The lighting in this picture is very soft because the sun was almost gone. This helped to get a very even light on the houses, what makes their colors look even better.Equipment
I used a Canon 750D, a Samyang 24mm 1.4 lens with an 10-stop ND filter attached to it. The tripod I used consists of a Genesis A3 base and a BH-34 ballhead. To prevent the camera from shaking I also used a wireless remote controller from Hahnel.Inspiration
I live near Groningen, where this place called “Reitdiephaven” can be found. Even though I live nearby, this was the first time I went here to take a picture. The light was just perfect and the sky was very minimalistic, and I like minimalistic.Editing
The only thing I did in post was adjust the brightness, highlights and shadows as well as some color tones. In my camera bag
I always have a sturdy tripod with me, as well as my Canon 750D and a wide angle lens. Most of the time I also have my DJI Mavic Pro drone with me.Feedback
This is a pretty popular photo-location in the Netherlands, what means you have to be unique to be seen. Make sure you do something different than most photographers in your composition or lighting.
