This cucumber beetle on a thistle photo was taken in my front yard. I allow weeds (as some would call it) to grow around my yard and I'm rewarded with many interesting insects.Time
Around noon I was out walking around my yard and I could see this yellow spot standing out against the purple thistle. I'm a curious person so I walked over to it to investigate what it was.Lighting
I used nature's natural lighting to take the photo.Equipment
This photo was taken using a droid maxx cell phoneInspiration
I love to take photos of things most people don't take time to notice. Everything has a place in this world no matter how big or small. Most people only see common things like dogs, cats, horses, lions and such. I like to broaden their view and open their minds to other thing like this Cucumber Beetle( not a yellow lady bug as most know it ).Editing
There was no editing done to this photo. I don't like to edit many photos. I like to try to capture how it really looks.Editing isn't a bad thing but I feel it sets the viewer up for failure. They think its the way it really looks but in reality its fake because that's not how it really looks. I view editing the same as makeup on people. Its to enhance your look not make your look.In my camera bag
The equipment I usually use are my cell phone because I have it with me at all times. It was a droid maxx ( then I got a new one a LG not sure if I like it or not). Then I have a Nikon D3300. I'm still learning how to use it.Feedback
If your looking to photograph insects the best advice is to be patient, and take several photos. I have become a bug whisperer because I didn't have a lens that zoomed in so I had to get real close to the subjects I was photographing. I'd say about an inch away from the subject. So move slow but be quick at taking your shot.
