After a long day of hiking and photographing, this image was captured in Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. The shape of the clouds reflected in the still water echo the shape of the far bank of the pong, providing an interesting repeating pattern.Time
This image was captured near sunset on 15 July 2015. While the image looks peaceful, the swarms of mosquitos made capturing the image a little challenging. It is hard to be creative when you are swatting pesky bloodsuckers away.Lighting
As always, great images are about the lighting. Shot at "Golden Hour," this image benefits from the last warm light of the day.Equipment

I am attracted to images with interesting patterns: the shape of the clouds and their reflections in the water mimic the shape of the far side of the pond, creating an interesting repeating pattern.Editing
While many landscape images require substantial post-processing, this image is basically straight out of the camera. Of course, since I shoot RAW, I adjusted the white balance, set a white point and black point to get some good contrast, but the image didn't require much else.In my camera bag
With everyone switching to Sony, I feel that I may be the only landscape photographer that still shoots Canon. My bag contains a Canon 5D Mark IV, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L lens, a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens, a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L lens, Canon TC80-N3 remote timer, Manfrotto carbon fibre tripod with Really Right Stuff BH-40 ball head, various filters, spare batteries, a LensCoat RainCoat to ward off the inevitable rain showers and some microfibre towels for when even the RainCoat doesn't prevent every bit of rain from hitting the gear. Of course, there's always a headlamp since as a landscape photographer you are always in the field very early and very late to catch the good light. And a couple of Quest protein bars because we always seem to be out shooting at dinner time, and it's hard to be creative when you're hungry.Feedback
Tuolumne Meadows is easily accessible from Route 120. It requires only a short walk to get out in the open. Then it's up to the weather and the light. As you know, Yosemite weather can change moment by moment, so you have to be patient and be prepared (see above about rain gear). And, on any given day, you might get skunked, so persistence is a key tool for a landscape photographer too!!
