Location
I took this photo on a trip I made to South Africa, while on a game drive on the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.Time
This photo wast taken at 9:39 am. I remember it perfectly, we were on a game drive, perfect morning, it was still kind of cold but you could start feeling the sun on your skin starting to warm up the whole place. While on the game drive we stopped close to where the photo was taken, when out of nowhere a herd of elephants approach from behind us, the elephants were so close, that the guide had to move us quickly to a safe location, which was where the photo was taken, as the elephants started going down that hill and crossed the lake, I knew that was going to be a good shot.Lighting
Since the photo was taken in the morning it was the prefect time to catch some good kind of orange tones of light, and also since the sun wasn't up yet, the elephants show better shadows from the side. Its allows better to have light como from the sides, that completely on top of your subject, that way shapes, textures and shadows are more appreciated.Equipment
Camera Cannon D3500Inspiration
The whole herd of elephants looks magnificent, as they crossed the lake, the light was perfect the reflections on the water were amazing and simply the whole family of elephants protecting each other and crossing was simply amazing.Editing
I did edit the photo trying to correct some of the colors, remembering which colors where there when te photo was taken so I can take them out and take advantage of the colors that were there that day.In my camera bag
Camera D3500 and three more lenses, a portrait lens, a lens to photograph far subjects, and a macro lens which I really enjoy having.Feedback
Be attentive of what surrounds you, there is always going something on, and if you are persistent and putting attention you'll be able to capture what you are looking for.
