Behind The Lens

Location

I was lying on the grass at home shooting some chaffinches. Then I saw something moving in the corner of my eye, it was this Robin, so I manoeuvred myself around to get him in the frame. As soon as I was comfortable the Robin puled the worm out of the ground. Bingo, I had my shot.

Time

It was after dinner, I usually go to the garden to see if there is anything to photograph. I have loads of set ups for bird photography. I didn't needed one with this image.

Lighting

Evening are the best for light on wild life, mornings are bit more difficult as birds are looking for food and perch not so long.

Equipment

I work with a Canon 60D and had a sigma 150-500 mm lens on it. Unfortunally that lens isn't the best. Had I used the 150-600S I use now it would have been more detailed and sharper.

Inspiration

I was and still am on a learning curve and to practice every day your camera skills increase.

Editing

I do very little in post-process, I use the sliders everyone is using.

In my camera bag

In my bag you find a Canon 60D, large telezoom lens, loads of batteries, cleaning stuff like cloths, blower and a lenspen. also a sigma 10-20mm for landscape. Lee filters, softgrad 3 stop, a 3 stop and 6 stop to slow down shutter speed. A shutter remote an a rain cover.

Feedback

The only advice I can give you to get a similar shot is be patient and never give up.
