Herons in general are very timid creatures, but this guy was especially friendly. He let me get within 10 yards. Usually just the sight of people or predators from around 80-100 yards is enough for them to take to the sky. This guy, being a city dweller, must have been more used to humans but this was such a beautiful moment because this was my closest encounter with such a beautiful Grey Heron for a portrait.
