In Luang Prabrang, Laos, the monks go into the village with their bowls just after dawn. The villagers wait for them and put food into the bowls as they pass by. Sometimes it's cooked rice. sometimes fruit or other prepared food. The Buddhist monks are only allowed to eat food out of their own bowl and must fast after 12 noon.
