I'm usually not a particular fan of giving titles to photos, but I have to admit that'd make a great one! Thanks!

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my parents' house, in the Spanish North Coast. I come here every summer, and freckles are quick cover my face due to the sun

Time

It was about midday, on a rainy day

Lighting

Rainy days always make terrific portrait lights. I also stood behind a white semi-transparent curtain, which gave me a clear filter to even the light on my face

Equipment

I held the camera myself (no tripod). It's a SONY ILCE 5100. I used the lens it came with, SELP1650. The lighting was all natural.

Inspiration

I've recently developed a certain fascination about freckles; they're like stars in the sky. When I saw my face that day, freckles enhanced by the cool light, I felt the urge to capture that summer day reflected on my face.

Editing

I did, I used Photoscape to enhance the freckles even more (reduce gamma, augment contrast, augment exposure a bit, play with colour curves, and a bit of extra brightness), and apply a black & white filter

In my camera bag

Unfortunately I can't afford to pay for any expensive equipment. The camera and lens described are my only equipment, along with a tripod. Before that I had a very cheap camera until it broke, and before that, I used my phone. I think if you have the creativity, the will and attitude, equipment shouldn't matter, it only makes your life easier.

Feedback

As I said, rainy days are a blessing for portraits like this. Also the semi-transparent curtain between the subject and the light has done marvels for me (I also use a blue one to give my photos that cool undertone). Also, instead of placing the camera as close to the subject as the frame that you want to capture, place it further and use zoom to reduce deformed edges due to the lens.
