I finally found the wherewithal to do some 'macro' shots with my Canon 28-300 L a few weeks ago (REALLY missed my macro lens), capturing bees and flowers in the in laws garden. In camera, they looked fantastic but getting home, I was disappointed to find they weren't quite as sharp as I'd hoped. Mulling over at length, whilst I like using a polarizer on such intensely sunny days, the ~two-stop difference pushed up both shutter speed and ISO a little too high and with a light breeze, would explain the slight softness and is something to work on for next time.
