Behind The Lens

Location

This was shot at Edge Photographic Studio in Manchester, UK

Time

it would have been around midday

Lighting

Flash was a single Bowens with 7in reflector, behind the door camera right, bounced of a white flat at camera left. The net curtains were used as an additional light diffuser panel.

Equipment

Canon 7d, 50mm lens I think, handheld, bowens flash radio trigger, i forget which type I used

Inspiration

it was part of a studio session with the model Hattie, who is a trained ballerina and gymnast, we were experimenting with back lighting using a large flat to bounce the flash and the net curtains as a diffuser panel

Editing

Sharpening, contrast and warmed the tones up in PS6

In my camera bag

Bodies; Canon 5D MK3, 5D and 7D Lenses; 300mm f4, 100mm f2.8, 50mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8

Feedback

Ordinary items around the house such as net curtains can be used as diffusers, bounce the light into a large flat, then through a net curtain to make the light source even larger.
