Lightning Ridge Roses

In Lightning Ridge cemetery, all of the flowers are artificial. Little surprise as the opa; miners have little need for a florist on a day to day basis, and the extreme summer heat isn't too bloom friendly. The paddock next to the cemetery is covered in fake flower petals, which I imagine have been blown there by the wind, and the odd complete bouquet. Maybe it was a really windy day. They seem incongruous on the dry earth, and sad that a floral tribute lies there forgotten.
