Location
This was taken right outside of the Tower of London after my family took a tour.Time
This was right around noon, which meant that I had to work my way through a bunch of tourists to get to a good spot to set up my tripod.Lighting
I wanted the sky to look really gloomy, so I stacked a bunch of ND filter so that I could do a really long exposure and blur the cloudsEquipment
Canon 5d mark 3, with 24-104 4 L lens, tripod, and 3, 6, and 9 stop ND filtersInspiration
Tower Bridge is just one of those iconic photos that is associated with London. The blue in the sky, and the blue paint on the brice just seemed to match, os I went with it.Editing
Very little post processing. Well for the colors at least. Just a little desaturation and clarity. I did have to remove a crane in Photoshop that was very distracting. In my camera bag
I've always got a Canon 5d mark 3, and a Canon 7d body. The Canon 50mm 1.2L pretty much lives in my bag, and I try to use it whenever possible. I've also usually got a 17-40 4 L just because it's a nice range, and then the Canon 100mm 2.8L is usually along for the ride. There's always lots of polarizers and Nd filters. It's not in the bag, but I usually have a tripod as well.Feedback
Getting this shot is all about timing. This is a long exposure, so the clouds will be blurred, but you gotta look for interesting shapes in the clouds, and vary your shutter speed. Trial and error is the name of the game...
