Location
I took this photo in Arkansas, at Petit Jean State Park. As soon as we began hiking down to see the waterfall, this beautiful butterfly floated down and perched right in front of me --almost as if it saw I had a camera and wanted to pose for a picture.Time
The shadow may give it away, but this was taken around midday on our way down a beautiful trailLighting
Nothing to really share about the lighting, the scene was really serendipitous, I just happened to be there with a camera to capture itEquipment
My first DSLR, a Nikon D3400 and the 18-55mm kit lens that came with it. I was hand holding the camera. There really was no secrets here; I was just in a beautiful place and knew how to use my camera.Inspiration
I went on this hike to take nature photos; and seeing this beautiful butterfly, it was a picture waiting to happenEditing
Because I was taking a photo of a subject that didn't stay still for long, I really didn't have time set the perfect composition. Therefore, I cropped the composition in post; and of course I brought out the colors; sharpened, and made lens adjustments all in Lightroom. In my camera bag
At the time of this photo, I didn't own much equipment. I simply had my camera and kit lens around my neck. Now, I have much more. I have a Nikon D500 and a wildlife lens (tamron 150-600mm). I usually carry 16-80mm, 35mm prime, tonika wide angle 11-16mm, tripod, dust blower, extra SD cards, extra battery, and some other miscellaneous itemsFeedback
