I feel this is one of the strongest photographs that I've ever made. On the day that the US Supreme Court ruled the gay marriage ban unconstitutional, I ventured down to the courthouse to photograph marriages for the folks finally getting to get married.
In this photo, you can see the pure emotion on the faces of these three men, and what that day meant to them. The gentleman on the right had just been married. They had waited for over 17 years for this day. I can't think of a stronger showing of freedom in my life than our nation as a whole moving forward and recognizing the rights of so many!
