I love to drive along country roads, looking for something interesting. This tree caught my eye, so I got out of my car to photograph it. To my surprise, there was a similar one behind it! I don't know why they are both bent over like this, but it was really interesting to see.Time
I took this mid morning, on a pretty gloomy day.Lighting
The lighting was what you would expect on a dreary morning - gray, flat. I was lucky to get some nice contrast from the tree bark. Converting to B&W helped, as the skies were very flat.Equipment
This was shot with a Sony A7R camera, and a Zeiss 85mm prime lens. I didn't use a tripod, just hand held.Inspiration
I call it "Take A Bow" because they remind me of graceful dancers at the end of a show. I love trees, and how they look at different times of the year.Editing
Yes. This was originally color, but did nothing for the photo. I converted it to black and white, and raised the white to minimize the clouds. I really wanted the photo to be all about the trees. In my camera bag
Oh, gosh, my cameras vary according to where I'm going. There's always a toss-in-the-bag camera, my A6000. If I can carry more than that, I have the Sony A7R, and a Fuji XT-2. A variety of zooms and primes, plus some vintage stuff I pick up at sales. I have a monopod that I can take if a tripod is just too much. I use one with little feet on it for extra stability.Feedback
Don't stay in just because the weather isn't perfect. Take a drive somewhere new, and take your time. "See" in black and white - color won't always work. Look for human qualities in inanimate objects, something that you connect with.
