King's Manor is now part of the University of York, but was originally built to house the abbots of St Mary's Abbey, York. The earliest remains date back to the 15th century.
The bronze calf to the right of the picture was sculpted by Sally Arnupp, a very talented and popular local sculptor. Sally sadly died recently, but I was very lucky to have spent some time with her in her workshop and gallery a while ago.
