This photo was taken in San Diego, California at a lovely place, La Jolla Beach.Time
Taken at noon in high-sun, produced a surprisingly pleasing photo.Lighting
I had hoped to get a vibrant photo that captures this seals in their natural environment. They are inquisitive and don't seem bothered by people getting close to them. Although, with a zoom lens I was far enough away that it was not paying any attention to me but when I was ready to take the shot, he turned around like he was looking my way - "snap"Equipment
I use a canon full frame camera with 200m pro lens - no flash or tripod used with this image. Also, the 200m lens causes great depth of field compression and the aperture is set at 4Inspiration
I love taking photos of wildlife and find it tranquil to sit for a while in an area to allow them to get close to get beautiful shots. Sometimes it works and times it does not.Editing
I do very little post-processing. I like the photos to be more natural. Sometimes I may do a little sharpening but too much causes grain in my photos. In my camera bag
I always go light so I can move around easily. I go out with just my camera body and lens. So, if I hope to capture wildlife I have my zoom lens and if I go out for landscapes, I'll take my 15mmFeedback
Go out in the afternoon, after the smoggy sky has cleared up with the direct light of the sun. Go out with enough time to be patient and move around a bit. The more you can just sit, the more comfortable they seem to be with you and get closer.
