Behind The Lens

Location

On a bucket list trip to the Serengeti that did not disappoint we found a family of lion on the rocks, this is not the behavior of lion I am used to seeing ,lying exposed exposed on the rocks , I am more familiar with the more secretive behavior of the cats from Southern Africa Preferring the long grass for cover. This youngster obliged by yawning wide and flopping down to snooze in typical cat-like fashion.

Time

We were fortunate to have a cloudy afternoon drive with the building rains approaching.

Lighting

The afternoon clouds full of the promise of rain provided a welcome relief from the searing heat and gave us a beautiful filtered light

Equipment

Shot from a safari vehicle with my first DSLR Canon 500d and the 100-400 lens was thrilled with the outcome

Inspiration

I love wildlife photography and this dream safari to catch the wildebeest migration, was filled with exceptional photographic opportunities.

Editing

Besides cropping and a slight colour & contrast adjustment Little more was done to this photo.

In my camera bag

For wildlife I love my 100-400 lens , it’s crisp & fast and although I was still learning how to use it on this trip it yielded magic results.

Feedback

A great tour guide combined with lots of patience and a bit of luck
