There really isn't much of a backstory to this photo. I hadn't seen my father in nearly 10+ years after he and my mom divorced. 5 years after he left, I found an email address for him and I reached out to him. There's been many tears of joy since. In ill health, my dad made the drive from San Diego, CA to Cedar Rapids, IA just to see me graduate from college with my AAS in Graphic Communications.
Graduating was cool and all, but the highlight of that day for me was having my dad there to see me walk across the stage in my cap and gown to accept my diploma. Having him there meant more to me than anything else in the world., even the diploma.
