Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Croatian countryside near Zagreb.

Time

It was sunset.I'm not sure about correct time.

Lighting

Mostly natural light with a minimal fill flash just to get some details because of contralight.

Equipment

Camera Canon EOS 6d, 24-105 f4 L, Speedlite 430ex ii

Inspiration

I was called by the videographer who was making a short film about famous croatian writer (August Šenoa) and his wife to document some of the process. Later on, i spotted that sunset will be great so i "borrow" the actress and we just go on the walk across the meadow toward the sunset. I took couple of shots and we were all very satisfied with the results.

Editing

I did recover some detail from the shadows on models dress, basic corrections in ACR then in photoshop curves and color adjustments and in the end I created these dustlike particles using combination of noise, filters and blending.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS 6d, 24-105 f4 L, 85mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, speedlite 430ex ii, yn 586ex ii, yn triggers rf603c (x3), spare battery, sd cards, cleaning kit etc...

Feedback

Just be aware of the environment you're in and try to take advantage of it. This particular shot was taken toward the sun so it's a great chance that you will loose a lot of details in shadows on the model or any other object. To avoid that, use any kind of fill light available (speedlite, bouncer etc.) Also, very important thing is communication with model and to have model not be frightened of tall grass and all evils that dwells in it ;)
