Location
This shot was taken at Champion Park in Central Texas. I was wrapping up the shoot and still happen to have my camera in my hand , I looked up and saw father and daughter walking away into the sunset - i had to capture it.Time
This was captured during the Golden hour in March about 6pm right as the sun was setting. We had finished the shoot and putting things away but this little one wanted to walk, so her dad decided to go with her as I was wrapping up all the props and cameras. The shot was not planned at all but when I saw the light - I was so happy I had not packed my camera yet.Lighting
I had packed everything (flash, lenses, etc) away so I used the natural light from the golden hour and hoped for the best!Equipment
This was shot with my backup camera - Canon 60d , Canon EF-s 17 -55 mm lens. It was the camera I grabbed quickly (I normally shoot with a Canon 5DsR )Inspiration
Honestly - It was a moment shot, I looked up and how I saw dad and daughter walking together, I knew that it would speak volumes. Its love between a daddy and his daughter that caught my eye and my heart.Editing
I did use lightroom to enhance the golden colors (bring them up in vibrance) and also to take away some shadows that made the pictures dark.In my camera bag
I have the following: Canon 5DsR, Canon 60D, Canon Speedlites, Canon 50mm, 85mm, EF-s -17-55mm, Canon 24-105mm, Canon 70-300mm - It really depends on what I am shooting but for the most part - this is my haul. Also add - batteries, tripod and the magmod kit.Feedback
Honestly, always have your camera out even when you finish a shoot, you never know what you are going to see that you are going to capture. I am not one for posing shots, I like it to be a real capture of the person or families personalities and relationship is. Sometimes those moments popup AFTER the shoot is done. As for lighting - I can't stress enough about practicing. Take friends out and find a great space during the golden hours and practice. Not so much posing but let them be natural. Study your settings, Iso, Fstop, white balance and learn what is going to work best. Also know you camera, know your lenses. I know that other shots I have done during the golden hour haven't come out as well as this one - practice is key.
