Sometimes the best camera for the job is the one you have with you at the time. Just looked out of the office window and saw this interesting mix of cloud and sun over one of the prettiest cities in the world. Snapped with an iPhone 4.

Location
This photo was taken from my office window in North Sydney. It is normally one of the best viewpoints of Sydney but on this particular day the lighting was even more special.Time
It was late in the afternoon as the sun was setting. The view is towards the South-East, so the Sun is being reflected off the clouds in the foreground, which in turn is being reflected on the water of the harbour.Lighting
The light from this viewpoint is continually changing with an interesting variation of reflections and shadows over the water, boats and buildings. On this particular day the sun in the West was reflecting on the cloud in the foreground, which was reflected from the water. I would love to have taken credit for the lighting setup but Mother Nature did it all for me. I was just there at the right time to capture it.Equipment
I heard someone say once that the best camera is the one you have with you at the right time. In this case I would have loved to have had a DSLR at the ready but instead all I had was an iPhone 5. Timing was everything as this light condition only lasted for a few minutes.Inspiration
It’s a beautiful view where the light is always changing in the afternoon. I’m always passively looking for photo opportunities and I was there at the right time for this one.Editing
Surprisingly little. Just a small increase in contrast and saturation across the whole image helped to emphasise the.natural “fireball” in the sky.In my camera bag
I have a Canon EOS M3 with 3 different zoom lenses. My favourite is my 11~22mm which gives me the perfect wide angle and is great for travelling light. When I have space for more gear I try to have a tripod handy as well as some neutral density filters fo long exposures in daylight.Feedback
Keep a passive eye on the sky and be ready to capture it with whatever equipment you have at the time. Timing is everything.
