If only I could smell that snow - so calm. So balanced.

Behind The Lens

Location

Sweden, near the Abisko National Park, in the early February 2017

Time

This was a great sunrise, only silence and some step in the fresh snow in front of this show!

Lighting

It was a good spot and the arctic winter sky was abandoning his dark dress for welcome this colourful explosion, I was simply lucky (and good to be in the right place in the right time), the most important thing is to be there before the sunrise and wait for the nature to follow its way!

Equipment

A good tripod (the snow was high and there was a little of wind), Canon 6d and Tamron 15-30.

Inspiration

I saw this spot the day before and this was perfect for trying the sunrise, I wanted to try it the second day and that's it... Colors in the arctic winter were so good and this wall of clouds was a benediction!

Editing

I only adjusted the brights and the darks for give more "show" and contrast to the scene, I took several shots but for this I used only one of them; a few and simply LightRoom regulation and my signature in the bottom-right corner are all I did.

In my camera bag

My bag is always bigger, but what I ever have with my is the 6d, the tripod, the remote control and three lenses (15-30, 24-70 and 70-200 Tamron); normally I like multiple exposures more than use filters because it's easyer and faster to change lenses. A little recommendation (for the ones using Arca attacks) is le "L-staff", very useful and comfortable for change the scene from horizontal to vertical without move the head of the tripod, and obviously some cleaning set and extra batteries are always a good idea!

Feedback

Tecnically this is not a difficult shot, the harder thing is to be on spot more time before and wait wait wait, trying the right exposure and view and if the weather will permits... In this case I didn't use any filter so I decided to set my camera with an Aperture of f/16 and the ISO at 100 for obtein a longer exposure and benefit of all the tones of the sky. I take this shot near the edge of a little cliff, pay attention in these cases because snow sometime is a bad friend!
