Location
This photo was taken at an Urbex site near Manningtree in Essex (UK), now long since gone and built over. The model is Sophie West who I had the pleasure of working with many times and she was always a joy to work with. The location was discreet and ideal for some tasteful nudes making the most of the weather and the natural light.Time
This was taken late morning on a hot summer day. Sophie had walked towards me so I took some candid shots as she walked and then we created some posed images of which this was one.Lighting
This was a rare hot summer day (well rare in the UK) so I was able to use natural light.Equipment
At the time I was shooting with a Canon 60D. No flash - f5.6 - 1/125sec and ISO 160.Inspiration
Sophie was happy to walk the path naked. It was approaching mid-day and quite hot so we added the cap partly to protect her from the sun but also as an added prop to enhance the photo.Editing
No the light gave this a natural feel so no post processing was needed. In my camera bag
This photo was taken in May 2016. I have now progressed and am probably a rare photographer because I shoot with both Canon (5D Mk III) and Nikon (D810. I love them both and normally on any shoot they come with me. I have a range of lenses that I use. The 5D mostly has a 24 - 105mm lens which is a much loved workhorse suited to many conditions. My Nikon often has the AF-S 55-200 or AF-S 35mm depending on what I am shooting.Feedback
Always make the most of the weather. In the UK we book location shoots and then have to entrust the weather. I have stood with a model under an umbrella out in the middle of nowhere with grey sky and pouring rain and less than 30 minutes later the sun is shining and we are able to shoot freely. Look around you - use your eyes and if shooting a model make sure you both move about until you get the shot you want. And digital photography gives you the freedom to take as many images as you want so don't be afraid to experiment. Keep going back and reviewing shoots because when you like a set of images you may be leaving behind some great shots that you will discover second (or third) time around. Whatever you do, enjoy what you do.
