For the next few weeks, I have decided to upload a photo-document of the rescue, rehabilitation and reconstruction processes following the 12th May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, close to where I was working.

A truly devastating and heartbreaking disaster, costing around 100,000 lives, mostly in mountainous, rural communities.

These photos serve as a record and are in no way here for artistic purposes.

If any geography-geology-environmental science-human science teachers-students would like copies for educational material to help others learn about, prepare for and respond to disasters, please PM me.

This is Tong Ji village, one week after the 7.9 magnitude earthquake.
