Behind The Lens

Location

It was my first visit to Bannerghatta national park, which is situated in bangalore (karnataka, India). There is a well maintained separate park only for butterflies. It contains different varieties of butterflies but this one caught my eye.

Time

The exact time i don't remember but it was close to noon.

Lighting

I always want my photographs to be sharper especially when i am taking macro photos. Even the day i visited zoo was sunny, it provided better lighting.

Equipment

The camera I used was nikon d3100 with 70-300mm tamron lens. I didn't used flash and tripod.

Inspiration

Butterflies are always beautiful. Their color is the one which makes them different from others, well there are other things that makes them different but am always fond of their color. While I was walking inside the butterfly park this one caught my eye. Without a second decision, I took my nikon d3100 with 70-300mm, then the result was this beautiful image.

Editing

I am not a big fan of post processing but I do basic adjustments. I always want photographs to be natural but in some cases it is not the same.

In my camera bag

Of course the camera nikon d3100, I have two lens: 1)nikkor 18-55 mm 2)tamron 70-300mm Two batteries, magnifying lens, lens hood.

Feedback

Patience is key in photography. When you are taking insects photos you need to be very careful. Once they see us as a threat, they move fast and tracking them is not that easy. So all i can say is move towards the subject gradually, learn their movement as you get closer to them, then get that shot. Even I am self learned photographer, well am still learning. Whenever I plan to take a photo I always think in which angle I will get the perfect shot. I missed many subject by not acting quickly. From my experience photography is not about always getting the perfect shot, you need to fail in photography so that you can learn new things. You need to experiment your skill. Most importantly You need to believe in yourself.
