I did a little experiment. I took the same photo on a new sony A7 28-70mm kit lens and a fifty-year-old cannon fd50mm 1.8 at similar apertures. I like the lights with the old lens better, but there was tons of flare that I had to deal with. This one was taken with the Sony 28-70 kit lens.
