Great grey heron in Vancouver when I was there shooting my bald eagles story last year. Spotted on a walk around the harbour on a winters evening around sunset. Flash used for the bird from quite some distance away with the flash unit and camera with 400mm lens balanced on small rocks which were poking out from just above the water line but not for too long as the tide was coming in. There was also a bit of street light illumination from a road behind me. I had to be ankle deep in the water to get close enough for the flash to reach and get to the rock where I could arrange my camera equipment.
