Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the 'Ace hotel' in Palm Springs in California. This photo reflects the vibe and feelings of the environment.

Time

Due to the extreme jetlag, I was experiencing due to coming from Australia to the east side of America and then back to the westside made for some very unusual timed wakeups. Luckily enough, I woke up early morning when the light was just right, perfectly shining onto the model who was mid-photo shoot.

Lighting

The early morning light was perfect to capture the happy and intense feel of palm springs and give the photo a 'warmish' glow.

Equipment

I used a canon 700d, adapting the railing as a tripod and 55-250 mm lens.

Inspiration

The inspiration to take this photo came from Palm Springs' incredible and beautiful environment. The use of color on the model's swimsuit accurately reflects the desert shades of palm springs whilst the water is symbolic of its, contrastingly snowy mountains. Palm Springs is beautiful, inspiring me to capture one of its occupants.

Editing

I did a minimal amount of post-processing in comparison to other photos. The photo was saturated, however not to a large extent and was cropped, this was all that was does is post-processing.

In my camera bag

My essentials are a macro and telescopic lens, multiple sd cards, a spare battery and on some occasions a monopod. I try to travel light, as its a requirement for street photography which I do most of.

Feedback

Always be ready and concentrate to the settings, making sure it matches the environment and setting. In the morning, the light changes rapidly so act fast to get the shot. Always experiment with different angles, enjoy taking the photo.
