Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo when I was in Fiorentina (Florence), Tuscany, in 2015. I was with my sister and mom, visiting Roma (Rome) and Venezia (Venice) as well.

Time

I took this shot of La Catedrale del Santa Maria del Fiore from the top of the tower in the early afternoon.

Lighting

I liked the early afternoon light, and the clouds racing overhead.

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Sony A 200, at f/16, ISO 100, Shutter speed 1/100, Focal Length 180/10. No flash, handheld.

Inspiration

I've always been interested in history and photography. It could be the only time I've come to Italy, so I decided to grab my chance to shoot it.

Editing

Yes, I did a couple of attempts to present it in a favourable light. I've published both attempts to this site. One of them was Sin-City style, after I saw the movie. This one, however is normal, having just applied a colour boost, and I think I did a minimal crop to straighten the frame.

In my camera bag

A Croma tripod, bought in India, an f/ 4.5 - 5.6, 75 - 300mm Zoom Lens, a f/3.5 - 5.6, 18 - 70mm Standard Lens, and a Macro 2.8/50mm lens. Recently, I bought a Canon EOS 80D camera with EFS 18 - 150mm range.

Feedback

Play the angles.
