Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Klong Thoey area of Bangkok, Thailand in April 17. Quite possibly the hottest walk of my life with an average of 42 degrees centigrade and full on humidity. I had booked a private guide to walk me around the area as I wanted to see real life Thailand and not just tourist stuff. Thais love having their photo taken, that said I always asked for their permission 1st.

Time

Noon

Lighting

Completely natural light, naturally he was in the shade of his doorway to shelter from the sun.

Equipment

Fuji XT2 with a 16-55 f2.8

Inspiration

I have always been a shy street photographer, part of the reason I did this walk was to gain confidence........and it worked a treat. I loved the look of this gent, very gritty and high cheek bones.

Editing

Simple cropping and level adjustments followed by silver efex pro

In my camera bag

Mostly Fuji these days, XT2 with 14mm, 16-55mm, 23mm f1.4, 18-135mm, 56mm f1.2, 100-400mm

Feedback

Smile, ask nicely.......and if they say no then smile and say no problem. Have the camera ready to go with all your settings in place before asking to take the shot, saves them waiting an eternity for you to set up.
