Behind The Lens

Location

Albany,Western Australia

Time

We had just booked into our cabin & decided to walk to the beach. It was early afternoon. It was April & a lovely clear day, but quiet cold. There were several fishing boats just coming into the pier & of course the pelicans were hanging about waiting for a fish to be chucked overboard. These 3 just happened to appear at exactly the right time.

Lighting

It was not a bright sunny day, just an early winter sun.

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon Powershot SX 170 ISO 200 F5 1/60th

Inspiration

I love black & white photography & birds are often difficult to capture as they move so suddenly. We don't have pelicans i New Zealand,so this was a wonderful opportunity.

Editing

Cropped slightly. Don't like messing with photos generally, what you see is what I saw.

In my camera bag

Recently purchased a Nikon D3400 with a 18-5mm lens.Looking to buy A 55-200 lens. Still carry my Canon with me as takes superb photos.

Feedback

Lighting is so important. Grab the opportunity when you can,at least you wont get home & think "I wish".You may never be there again.
