Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard after the first heavy snowfall of the year.

Time

This cat is my female Maine Coone Mavis. She had been crying at the window to go outside. She had never seen snow before. So around 11:30 in the morning, once it warmed up, we took her outside to experience her first snow.

Lighting

The beautiful thing about noon in Canada is that the natural light, on a sunny day, is all we need

Equipment

I used my Canon Rebel T3 with my EF 75-300mm. No flash, manual focus, no tripod.

Inspiration

Mavis was confused by the cold snow and wouldn't move from her spot. Snow is still, to this day, not her favorite thing.

Editing

The only processing was a slight trim.

In my camera bag

My Canon Rebel, zoom and standard lenses,

Feedback

Most of my photos are unplanned. I find the result is more natural. Hard to convince an animal to hold a specific pose.
