Bryce Canyon, Utah; Sunset pointTime
1st light in Hoodoos; 530am ishLighting
Refreshing 25 degrees and dark to start; natural sunlight only as it was coming up behind the mountains. I made sure My lens was not pointed directly at the sun eliminating flares. Had to adjust settigs as the sun rose.Equipment
Canon 5diii 16-35 2.8; tripod with ballhead; shutter release; settings: 16 mm iso 100; f18; 2.0 secInspiration
Love sunrise and sunset photos.Editing
Very simple post processing using Lightroom and Photoshop. Cleaned up 2 sunflares; did not superimpose anything. In my camera bag
Equipment for landscape normally in my bag: full frame; ultra wide 16-35; wide 24-70; maybe 70-200; filters: ND 10 stop and CP; 1 OCF; flashlight; remote shutter; batteries; CF cards; microfiber clothsFeedback
Prepare and clean gear ahead of time; know your settings; stake out a location before it occurs; know the exact location sun will rise...i use Night sky app...get to your spot to set up at least 30 minutes before the sunrises. The sun rays happen during split seconds of it coming up behind mountains. Those are the images I try to capture. Use the shutter release with a 2 sec timer for stabilization, and enjoy. Yes ut is early, yes it may be FREEZING(25 degrees) but well worth the capture in person and capturing it in your camera. Stick around after the sunrises you might have a few more opportunities to create and capture more natural beauty.
