I "named" this little guy Peanut because he was just so cute and little, especially next to his gargantuan-sized older siblings and mother, who were all dozing in the sun close by. They let the one-month-old know by growls and snarls that they didn't want to be disturbed. Spying me, he made the very difficult trek over huge, uneven boulders to come within about four feet from where I was sitting. He must have thought I looked like a good playmate - at least I was awake. Finally reaching his goal, he leaned into the boulder pictured here and smiled as contentedly and proudly as anyone I have ever seen. Shortly thereafter, Mom awoke. Simultaneously, she stirred her six-foot, 220 pound bulk and gave out a terrifying growl. That roar and the look on her face meant "danger!" Though massively ponderous, she could have been on me in a flash. I exited. ... Quickly. But just meeting Peanut was worth the terror.
