Location
This was taken between Havre USA and the CAN border crossing.Time
It was mid-day in February.Lighting
The weather was glum, trying to snow and we kept hearing about a possible impending storm on our drive home that day.Equipment
Taken on a Rebel T3. No tripod, hand held in a moving car.Inspiration
We were driving home from a long weekend in weather that was trying to snow and threatening a storm. We started to notice a lot of birds, more than you'd think normal in the middle of the day so we took the camera out and started to slow down when we'd see a bird on a pole coming up. This was totally a team effort as if I didn't have a driver that day I never would have caught this photo. He would slow down and put the car into neutral and kind of just coast down the road quietly as we approached the birds so I could attempt to take a picture if they took off from their fence posts. Luckily this particular road has very little traffic or it would not have been possible to get this shot.Editing
Very little as it was a jpeg not a raw photo. In my camera bag
I now have a 7D along with a 55-250 canon, 100mm macro, 24mm canon, 24-105 canon and 10-22 canon. I also carry the Rebel T3 but rarely use it anymore. I carry a CPL filter and a ND filter for most of the lenses along with batteries, charger and now an off camera flash and reflectors though I have yet to experiment with those.Feedback
Have a good driver with you! And a car with automatic windows because let me tell you when you're trying to get birds in flight you don't want to miss an opportunity because you're still rolling the window down.
