This was the shot that almost got away. I was on my way out of the Quinault Rainforest, following the winding dirt road from the Enchanted Valley trail head out toward the lake when I drove over a large man made bridge. On my way to the trail head I hadn't looked twice but this time something caught my eye in a distant valley away from the road so I decided to pull over to go check out where this river was coming from.
As I was gearing up to hike in two guys in a truck slowed down and to be honest I was pretty damn leery of them at first because I was the only one in the area. Turns out they just wanted some directions which I happily provided and began my hike in. I had to climb over quite a bit of deadfall and through some large fern forests and thickets of moss to get back into this area and then on top of that the fog was thick and conditions sucked but getting this gem made it totally worth it! I was cold, pretty wet but ultimately I felt rejuvenated, something about being in the rain forest really does some amazing things for you.
