Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on Mt. Washington, on Vancouver Island. I am an amateur photographer and wanted to capture this view.

Time

This is one of my favourite photos. I was snow shoeing for the first time at Mt. Washington while visiting my sister and her partner. When we finally reached the top the view was spectacular and I had to take a moment to capture it. This photo was taken on January 19, 2017 at 1:00pm.

Lighting

I used as much natural lighting while taking the shot.

Equipment

The was shot with an iPhone 6s, no flash was used during the shot.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the view of the snow sitting on the tree branches. It had been snowing while we were snow shoeing, and when we reached the top it has stopped snowing. The snow was sitting on the branches of the trees like a soft blanket and it was so peaceful.

Editing

Yes, the was some post-processing and it was done on the iPhone. For an iPhone they have pretty good editing, all I used was auto enhancements.

In my camera bag

I always have my cell phone with me and if I can't take a good shot with the iPhone, I also have a Canon. I also carry a tripod to attach to my camera incase it's needed.

Feedback

For amateur photographers, seize the moment. Capture the photo as you may not get a second shot. In this shot the snow was untouched and it had finally stopped snowing.
