Location
This photo was taken during a long hike in the Never Summer Range in northern Colorado. This little known spot is undoubtedly one of my most favorite places on the planet. Every season, every visit, it is completely different than the rest and always jaw dropping.Time
This was an impromptu stop on our way home from a long weekend. The hike in the winter can be trying and a bit risky for a "quick trip," but we decided to go for it anyway. After a brisk and wind-blown 1.5hr snowshoe up, we had just made it to the lake around 3 pm.Lighting
The clouds were soaring over head, providing great lighting and blocking the harsh sun. Watching the light dance on the peaks was perfection.Equipment
I rarely carry a tripod with me, and this occasion was no exception. This was shot with my old Nikon D3300 with a 18-55mm lens F/3.5 Nothing too fancy.Inspiration
Feeling small is a sentiment that vastly goes under appreciated. Watching my boyfriend and our dog out on the lake was a good reminder of the incredible world that we are surrounded by and how we all play a relatively small role in it. As I snapped this photo, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmingly thankful to be able to walk among these towering peaks as I listened to the ice popping under my feet. Like the caption says, "Begin with gratitude."Editing
I am a simpleton when it comes to editing. I did a quick edit for this photo via Instagram, click, and post.In my camera bag
I usually have a backpack, sleeping bag, a warm layer, beef jerky and a beer in my bag. Not your typical photographer.Feedback
I am no expert on photography, by any means. So my advice is simple...fill the lens with what moves you.
