Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home studio in Philadelphia.

Time

It was around 4pm on a beautiful sunny day.

Lighting

There are two windows in my studio. There’s a small window to the subject’s left and one window facing her. Both windows light is diffused by a sheer curtain to give it a soft look.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D750 and the Nikon 50 1.4.

Inspiration

I’m a HUGE breastfeeding advocate. I was lucky enough to breastfeed my four kids. I breastfed 11 years straight and it’s the best decision I’ve made. I always wanted to take a photo like this of myself but never had the chance.

Editing

Yes, I used one of my presets. I didn’t want to do too much since the image was already beautiful. Less is more!

In my camera bag

My D750, Nikon 50 1.4, Sigma 24-70 and the Nikon 70-200.

Feedback

If mom is comfortable with breastfeeding images, make sure you capture her bond with baby. I advise that baby has eaten before hand so he/she isn’t fussy and more cooperative. Always keep it classy and artistic.
