Every evening at 5 o'clock, all the bracelet kids who comb the streets and local beaches looking for tourists to sell their bracelets to, put down their crafts and go back to being kids. Sunset soccer: A ball and makeshift soccer field. No shoes, and not a care in the world. If only for one hour. All congregate together for a bit of fun, as it should be. Their only escape from their daily hardships. Most can't afford to go to school, forced to help support their families with a bit of tourist dollar. They learn English along the way, and the age-old street smarts of haggling and bartering. For better or for worse, that's the way it is in Kuta Lombok. Once it's too dark to play, they clean up and hit the bars and restaurants in search of more tourists, til their parents pick them up way past their bedtime. That soccer pitch is gone now, a new resort is being built in its place.

Frankly, the photo itself is only a 9 out of ten in my opinion, but the story with it is moving and wonderful. I think everyone should see this photo and read the heartfelt narrative. Art should create a feeling in the observer, and this certainly did for me. Bravo!
