On a 3 week tour of South Island New Zealand, I was desperate to see Mount Cook, We stayed nearby to Lake Matheson in the hope of getting a good view the following morning. The first attempt was disappointing, it was grey and clouds were covering the mountain, but just as we got back to the hotel the weather lifted and we got back to the lake as fast as humanly possible! A beautiful still interlude allowed us to appreciate the full scale of the view, and then the weather closed in again. Perfect.
