Part of a series of photographs exploring the notions of balance and transformation, through symbolism derived from the fields of alchemy and Galenic Medicine. According to Galen, the body and mind remains healthy, as long as the four humours (corresponding to the 4 elements) remain balanced within the body. Using symbolism from Alchemy and particularly the archetypal symbol of Ouroboros, (the tail eating snake representing the circularity of nature) I attempted to explore the transformation of the body its basic components and consequently to its and its connection to nature.

It is a constructed work. The texture superimposed on the body was painted in canvas by me, and then scanned digitally.
