Location
Shot in Trinidad, Cuba - this US built steam train is now well over 100 years old but still running an (almost) daily service from Trinidad to nearby Valle de los Ingenios. The train caters for tourists who want to visit the site where the sugar plantation revolution, spearheaded by the country's hero Josi Marti began and ended (by the ringing of a bell in the tower)Time
This was early morning, probably around 08:30 as the train was being made ready to depart.Lighting

Initially I wanted the picture for my son, who has a love of old trains, but as I started to move around looking for a good vantage point I found that the tracks were acting as great leading lines into the image and liked the people milling around and watching.Editing
Basic conversion to black and white in photoshop, everything else is as shot.In my camera bag
Depends on what I'm shooting, but equipment really isn't important for the most part, this could just as easily have been shot with a camera phone as a DSLRFeedback
Cuba is a photographer's paradise... there's new stories waiting to be told around every corner, the light is incredible; warm and soft in the morning, then beautiful pastels in the evening. The people are friendly and welcoming, love to stop and share tales and happy to be photographed. It really is the most amazing country, full of history, passion, music, art, dancing... oh and rum based cocktails, there's a lot of those too :)
