I took this photograph on the Island of Guam when I was stationed there. This was one of th last nights I was there before flying back to the mainland. I saw these to rowing crews racing and I was lucky enough to catch the end of the race and the celebration that you see here!Time
I was walking the beach around 7PM after having our last dinner on The Island.Lighting
Amazingly enough, the lighting on this photo is completely NATURAL! The sunsets in Guam have to be some of the most amazing views in the world!Equipment
I was using my first really decent camera, an Olympus E-PL2 with a 50-200mm lens.Inspiration
I love sunsets! They are one of my favorite things to take pictures of. This just seemed like the perfect opportunity, the right place at the right time!Editing
The only thing I did for this picture was to adjust the contrast to make the sunset pop and darkened the blacks a little to add the silhouette effect on the towers. I don’t like to do to much post processing. I like my photos to be as pure as possible. In my camera bag
I always have my regular Nikon kit lens Nd my 50-300mm lenses for those shots that I really need to pull in closer to get the best detail.Feedback
The island of Guam has some of the most amazing landscapes and is surrounded by water and culture. Like I stated before, the sunsets here are some of the most amazing I’ve seen in my life. You can literally expect something different every night on this beautiful island!
