Behind The Lens

Location

This was at a local park during one of my street walks. I was stopped in my tracks when I saw this man sleeping contently that morning. Plus the geometry around him was pleasing too.

Time

It was close to noon on that Saturday which was sunny as you would expect in January. This was at Mumbai, India. The man was so blissfully asleep that I could take many shots from different angles.

Lighting

The scene was out in the open under a clear sky with sun just about there, now and then getting behind a cloud...

Equipment

I shot this with Nikon D5200 with 18-105mm lens f7.1 1/100s and ISO400

Inspiration

To expect someone to sleep without a care in the world on a park bench with curvy somewhat dated handles. The man himself seemed a character with long white beard... Could not help feeling so lucky that day

Editing

I use Lightroom and post-processing is a must for me with most photos to bring out that something extra. I pay great attention when I take photos (rather try make) and after the fact imagine what I can eke out more...

In my camera bag

I generally take a camera and a lens when I hit the streets... Nowadays I have a Sony A7iii and I prefer a fast aperture when I shoot at night. So 85mm Sony with 1.8 works fine otherwise I go with 24-105mm lens

Feedback

Well, street photography is tough. I find it challenging to shoot people so I shoot them less, from far at times but unobtrusively. Else I shoot at night when I prefer shooting the shadows and high contrasty abstract images.
